A little introduction…

You may be wondering, “what’s this all about?” or “is this worth a Saturday of my life?”.

Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Laura, and I am a transplant to the Mid Ohio Valley from northeast Ohio. Through my job at Marietta College, my (until recently) booth at the Antique Mall, and my daughter’s community involvement, I have come to appreciate the small businesses, friendly citizens, and creative talent that are an integral part of the MOV.

I have two Etsy shops online, YellowCabVintage and WitNWhimzy. It was through fellow Etsy sellers that I heard about pop-up flea markets, and my daughter is a big fan of the City Flea of Cincinnati. I began to think, Why not in Marietta? We have the charming downtown, the active groups committed to the revitalization and growth of Marietta’s small businesses, and the support of local merchants. While some vendors may not have the time or resources to maintain a monthly retail presence, they can certainly benefit from a semi-regular event that would showcase their products and attract visitors and customers.

Hence the birth of Marietta Marketplace! We plan to schedule events during the tourism season, along with a couple holiday events if things progress as anticipated. Our part is to provide the venue, advertise, organize, network, promote and promote some more! Vendors are encouraged to use their social media to announce the events to their followers, friends and families—the more the merrier!

Check this page for updates, news, and announcements. If you are a vendor wondering if this event is for you, feel free to contact me with any questions.
